Webinar Description:
Sarah shares her story of how she anonymously donated her infant son’s post-mortem tissue for biomedical research to some of the most prestigious scientific facilities in the country. Years later, after tracking down each donation, Sarah met with the research scientists that received the donations to learn how they are being studied in cutting-edge research for medical discoveries.
One of these research scientists who received her son’s retinas is Dr. Arupa Ganguly. Dr. Ganguly directs the genetic diagnostic lab at the University of Pennsylvania and studies retinoblastoma, a childhood-onset cancer caused by mutations in tumor suppression gene.
Together, they will share their experience and perspective on biospecimen donation and how it benefits research.
