December 29, 2009 | AstraZeneca is reportedly on track to save $150m in reduced IT costs and increased efficiency thanks to better data management for clinical trials. AZ outsourced its clinical trial data mangement to Cognizant in 2007 in a $95m five-year deal. Step one was to automate the process for collecting and reporting clinical trial date from 150 yearly studies across 50 countries. This was followed up with standardization of its more than 50 worldwide processes and systems. AstraZeneca says the cost savings have been "significant." Computing.co.UK
