Webinar Description:

This webinar goes to the heart of the clinical trial patient experience with a one-on-one conversation between BBK Worldwide President Matt Kibby and three-time study participant Richard Brescia. The discussion will provide first-hand insight into the clinical trial patient experience – both positive and negative – that can be leveraged by study sponsors for effective engagement and enrollment success.

Richard, a head and neck cancer survivor, will provide a unique view into the personal and emotional journey of a study participant. He will discuss his decision to participate, the impact of caregiver support, appointment compliance, and much more. He’ll also compare and contrast his experiences across multiple studies. With extensive industry expertise, Matt will offer insights and strategies for enhancing the patient experience.

  • Understand the patient experience more clearly and learn how to leverage insights for clinical trial enrollment and engagement success
  • Understand specific engagement challenges (e.g., travel and reimbursement, burdensome appointment schedules, caregiver responsibilities) and strategies for overcoming them
  • Explore how patient travel programs can foster engagement and expand access to study participation
  • Learn how to reflect the patient narrative to ensure your studies are patient-centric

Richard-BresciaRichard Brescia, Clinical Trial Participant

Richard spent his career in broadcasting. In June 2016, he was diagnosed with an advanced and aggressive head and neck cancer. After interviewing several specialists working in research hospitals in New York and Connecticut, he and his family began their treatment journey with a team of physicians and surgeons at the Smilow Cancer Center of Yale University Hospital. Nearly three years later, Richard has participated in three clinical trials — including interventional and pharmacokinetic studies. His community of family care partners included three generations, some with experience in patient care or clinical research, and all having served as care partners to others in the past. In his retirement, Brescia has become an avid cook and enjoys playing golf. He also remains active in city government.
